Working with projects in secondary – Levels 2 & 5

In the English academy we believe that working with projects engages students and it can be an inspiration to love learning. It also helps them develop life skills and leads them to a deeper understanding of the topics.

When working in the modality of distance learning, projects are a great opportunity to develop technological skills from research and collaboration through the creation of their products and presentations.

For this project, our students reflected on the benefits of speaking more than one language, and on the different ways of communication. They worked in teams and were guided by their teacher throughout the process. They also learned that idioms are part of a country’s culture, and that they cannot be translated into a different language.

After reflecting about figurative language and how languages can help us have a wider perspective of the world, students wrote some collaborative poetry, and were able to come to an agreement and organise their ideas for the final product. They understood the importance of language and the different forms of communication.
